How to Play Numble Words
A complete guide to word challenges, number challenges, multiplayer mode, and everything in between.
The Basics
Numble Words gives you a hidden word or number and a set number of attempts to guess it. After each guess, coloured tiles reveal how close you are. Use that feedback to narrow down the answer.

This letter or digit does not appear in the answer at all.
Word Challenge
Guess a hidden English word within your allowed attempts. Every guess must be a real word — the game validates against a dictionary. Choose word length from 2 to 15 letters.
Tip: Start with a word that covers common vowels and consonants. CRANE, SLATE, and RAISE are strong openers.
Number Challenge
Guess a hidden number within your allowed attempts. Choose digit count from 2 to 15. You can also choose whether repeated digits are allowed — toggle this in the setup screen before starting.
Tip: Your first guess should spread digits across different values (like 1234) to gather maximum information about which digits exist in the answer.
Choosing Difficulty
When you tap Word Challenge or Number Challenge, a setup screen appears where you can choose:
- Length — 2 to 15 letters or digits (shown as numbered circles)
- Attempts — 3, 6, 9, or unlimited
- Repeats (number mode only) — whether the same digit can appear more than once
Daily Challenges
Every day a new word and number are selected — the same answer for every player worldwide. Daily challenges are a great way to compare your results with friends. Share your coloured grid after completing a daily challenge.
Hints
You get 3 free hints per day. Each hint reveals the exact character in one position you haven't solved yet. Hints reset at midnight. Use them when genuinely stuck — they don't count against your attempt total.
Multiplayer Mode
Challenge a friend in real time. Tap Create Room to generate a 6-character room code. Share it with your friend. Once they join, both players start simultaneously.
Same Challenge — both players get the same word or number. First to solve wins.
Custom Challenge — each player sets a word or number for the other to solve. Both get 30 seconds to submit their secret word, then the race begins.
If your opponent solves it first, you'll get a popup asking if you want to accept defeat or take 3 minutes to solve it yourself.
Pro Mode
Enable Pro Mode in Settings for a mixed challenge — answers that contain both letters and numbers. This is the hardest mode and is not enabled by default.
